Mexico City, September 19, 1985 .- 07:19 am: I heard the screams of death, shouting cries of survivors buried under debris, their yells echo in my mind like an incurable wound.

"Nada ni Nadie Las Voces del Temblor" reproduce algunos de mis reportajes sobre el Sismo de 1985.

MEXICO CITY .- September 19, 1985 .- I took my bath, the tiles began to break, I heard screaming, got dressed and tried to report me to the newsroom, the phone does not work, I ran down the street Paseo de la Reforma, glass falling in the sidewalks, smell of dust from collapsed buildings, ambulances and police cars everywhere.

The scene of desolation, only hear the cries of survivors trapped under tons of rubble and people making human chains to move debris.

Try to count of collapsed buildings: Hotel Regis, a building of Interior Department, various Government agencies, private companies.

People took to the streets: the popular TV program "Hoy Mismo" led by Lourdes Guerrero and Guillermo Ochoa, short transmission in Televisa Chapultepec, collapsed a building where our colleague and friend, Felix Sordo, was killed.

Jacobo Zabludowsky begin a broadcast from his cell phone in the car from a street adjacent to the Hotel Regis.

Televisa Chapultepec, one of the buildings collapsed and cameramen and technicians helped in the rescue.

Amador Narcia improvised in another studio and newsroom in the pain of the tragedy in a matter of hours, re-start transmission Canal de las Estrellas.

Emilio Azcarraga Milmo sympathized with his employees, asked for food for all and left them to fetch their families, the day Tiger, and earned the respect of Mexico. Azcarraga Milmo keep taking cash from his pocket and give as many people did not have to eat and showed their respect for the Poor by Hurt.

The government of Miguel de la Madrid, was Neophyte to the tragedy, his group of ignorant advisors lie so much so the first reaction was to deny international aid.

Plácido Domingo came with picks and shovels to rescue victims and families at Tlatelolco, in fact if there was a way to heal this wound we must pronounce to Plácido Domingos name and "Topos" unsung heroes with buckets and hand dug into the asphalt around the clock to rescue babies, elderly adults.

Figure of El Universal beginning to circulate under the heading "OH GOD!" "OH DIOS!"

The Latest News from Excelsior "Tragedy!" "TRAGEDIA"

Newspapers and radio were the most important networking media in this disaster, due the damage to the Telmex telephone network, and the tower of Televisa.

A tribute to all radio and TV announcers who spent long hours connecting families in the province and giving the names of those who were reported to be well, to avoid more chaos in the world's most populous city.
I was covering the Earthquake for the dailies "El Norte" of Monterrey and "El Centro", a phrase verbatim from a victim of this earthquake measuring 8.1 degrees on the Richter scale, "Fucking useless Government " (Pinche Gobierno No Sirve de Nada) The victim was right and Elena Poniatowska's reproduced in the book" Nothing and Nobody, The Voices of Earthquake", (Nada ni Nadie Las Voces del Temblor) which gave me full credit for the 36 pages devoted to my stories.

Miguel de la Madrid had to backtrack through the Mexico City Regente, Ramon Aguirre Velazquez, and accepted international aid, which was monopolized by the bureaucrats, much of it never reached the victims.

The number of victims will never be known, it commented that were over 15 thousand but that earthquake exposed the corruption of governments that built government offices, the gross mismanagement of resources it had at that time in the Mexican capital, and that As always the suffering people of Mexico pay with blood for the high price of lack of accountability and honesty from our politicians.

There are many aspects of earthquake coverage for lack of space I can not mention, but which serves us all to remember that forgetting is not a cure for the wounds of this type when the Mexican territory is between two intense seismic zones.

For all Latino brothers who have gone through tragedies such as Peruvians, Guatemalans and Nicaraguans, Mexico has exported its expertise with specialized rescuers called Topos.

The wound has healed, but change the culture of Mexico, and we're trained to react to an earthquake, and the new generation of Mexicans already know what to do in an earthquake.

Now another tragedy in Mexico, and almost reaches the death toll from the earthquake of 1985, and the wound continues to grow, as Carlos Fuentes said: "The United States-Mexico border is the world's largest wound", "globalization will erase the borders "and Juan Angel Espinal, a Salvadoran deportee at a jail in Nuevo Laredo, said" borders and invent weapons and men do not have to be their victims, "
Perhaps this wound caused by the drug mafia is actually more difficult to cure, especially if we do awareness among our children.
